LAHORE - Estranged PTI leader Jahangir Khan Tareen who also leads a group of party legislators will return from the UK by weekend, Awn Chaudhry, a member of the JKT group told the media here on Monday. Awn said Jahangir Tareen will be reaching Lahore on April 16 (Saturday) as the doctors have allowed him to travel. He said Mr Tareen will be accorded a warm welcome on arrival at the Lahore airport.
Tareen, a politician from Lodhran district of southern Punjab, had left Pakistan for London on February 26 for medical treatment. He had been there all through the time when the country was having a political crisis. His group had been in the news in the last two months as all the political parties sought its help in the no-confidence motion against the then PM Imran Khan. His group eventually decided to side with the Opposition instead of Imran Khan.
Mr Tareen’s travel plan shows that by the time he will return, the PTI will not be having its government even in Punjab where the PML-N candidate Hamza Shehbaz Sharif seems to be ahead of his rival Ch Parvez Elahi in the numbers’ game.
