KPEC to enhance regional connectivity for economic growth

peshawar  –   Khyber Pass Economic Corridor (KPEC) Project is an initiative under CAREC that integrates Afghanistan and Central Asian Republics (CARs) with Pakistan to enhance regional connectivity for economic growth through increase trade.

Project Director KPEC, in his opening remarks highlighted that under the initiative of KPEC, Peshawar-Torkham Expressway (PTEX) will be developed compassing holistic and integrated economic development programme through the corridor to improve and diversify trade portfolios, improve livelihoods and elevate communities.

Under the umbrella of KPEC, a consultative workshop was held the other day regarding ‘Scoping Exercise for Economic Development of Women-Owned or Managed Firms in Greater Western Peshawar.’ The purpose was to deliberate and gauge the women owned enterprises in the project area and to design interventions making these businesses competitive and improve the overall business eco-system.

The participants in the workshop underscored the importance of the activity and emphasised the need for regulatory reforms.

, access to finance for business, training need for enterprises and market linkages to enhance their turnovers and spin over effects.  Director General SDU appreciated the efforts made by the Project Director and thanked the participants for their valuable contribution.
