PPP nominates Makhdoom Ahmed Mehmood as Punjab Governor

LAHORE    -  The Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Friday nominated Makhdoom Ahmed Mehmood as Punjab Governor. According to official sources, the PPP made the decision as the coalition government’s cabinet in the Centre is being finalised through consultations.

The PPP leadership has informed Mehmood, a seasoned politician and former Punjab’s governor as well, about the decision.

Mehmood, who was earlier part of PML-F, decided to part ways with the party after then-president Asif Ali Zardari appointed him as Punjab Governor in December 2012 — and he served till June 2013.

Meanwhile, the PPP’s central leaders held a consultative session at Zardari House to discuss the ministries in the new government late Friday.

The session was attended by Asif Ali Zardari, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and senior leaders. The central leaders mulled over the proposal of the foreign minister’s slot for PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari.
