peshawar - A local court here on Saturday dismissed bail application of a retired army officer in a case pertaining to sharing hate material against judiciary, army and state institutions on social media.
Judicial Magistrate Sher Hassan Khan dismissed the bail plea of Muhammad Raza, a resident of Karak. During the hearing, the Federal Investigation Agency’s assistant director (legal) told the court that the FIA had arrested the accused after he shared hate material against armed forces and Supreme Court following the restoration of the National Assembly, and voting on the no-confidence motion against former premier Imran Khan.
After hearing arguments, the court dismissed the bail application and accused was shifted back to the jail.
Peshawar police also arrested a man on Saturday for having posted a video on social media causing hatred. The man in his video asked party workers to kill journalists wherever they see them, and he even termed it as jihad.
Later, Khyber Union of Journalists (KhUJ) and the Peshawar Press Club also took notice of the video and expressed concern as media persons have already been attacked in recent months. After KhUJ lodged an FIR, the Peshawar police traced the accused identified as Mustafa, hailing from Faqirabad locality and arrested him.
