JUI-F may get NA Dy Speaker’s slot

ISLAMABAD   -  JUI-F’s Zahid Akram Durrani is all set to get the slot of the Deputy Speaker of National Assembly.

A close source to the party told The Nation that Jamiat Ulema –e- Islam -Fazl (JUI-F) has accepted the offer of Deputy Speaker slot in the National Assembly.

The JUI has nominated Zahid Akram Durrani for deputy speakership, who is MNA from NA-35 (Bannu) and also the son of former KP Chief Minister Akram Khan Durrani. The source said that Durrani had received nomination papers of Deputy Speaker while he will submit his nomination papers today (Tuesday).

It may be mentioned that JUI-F has accepted offer of four federal ministries including, Federal Minister for Communication Asad Mehmmod, Federal Minister for Religious Affairs Mufti Abdul Shakoor, Federal Minister for Housing Maulana Abdul Wasay, Federal Minister for SAFRON Senator Talha Mehmmod.

However, the JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman has demanded for early elections in the country from the ruling coalition. He said if there were any flaws in the electoral process then government should go ahead with introduction of reforms. Maulana Fazl said, “We believe there is no reason to extend your stay in the office a moment longer than necessary.”Maulana added that his party had its own identity and demanded from the ruling coalition to hold fresh elections in the country. He said that the former Prime Minister Imran Khan had been ousted from his office. Now it’s the time for the joint opposition to bring reforms in the electoral process and return to the public and get their trust.

On the other hand, PPP Co-Chairman and former President Asif Ali called on PDM Chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman at his residence on Monday. Later on, the PDM leader hosted an Iftar dinner for PPP in which both leaders discussed the country’s situation and future strategy. Both leaders discussed formation of the federal cabinet during the meeting.

PPP Secretary General Nayyar Bukhari and JUI leader Maulana Salahuddin were also present in the meeting.

Both leaders also agreed to work together in future. It is pertinent to mention here that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is trying to convince the joint opposition to be a part of the federal cabinet.
