Pakistan desires to strengthen ties with US: Hina

ISLAMABAD – Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Hina Rabbani Khar on yesterday reiterated Pakistan’s desire to further strengthen its bilateral ties and mutual cooperation with the US in diverse fields. The minister of state received the US Congresswoman Ilhan Omar who called on her.Khar said Pakistan and the US had a long-standing relationship. She also thanked Ilhan Omar for raising voice in support of Kashmiris in the wake of    India’s illegal and unilateral actions of 5th August 2019 in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK). Tahir Javed, a prominent US Democratic leader of Pakistani origin, was also present during the meeting. Earlier, Hina Rabbani Khar said Pakistan was committed to continuing its efforts toward ensuring peace in Afghanistan and the region. She expressed these views in a meeting with Pakistan’s Special Envoy to Afghanistan, Ambassador Mohammad Sadiq who called on her at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Khar said Pakistan respected the sovereignty of Afghanistan and considered peace in the neighbouring country of utmost importance. She expressed concern over the incidents of targeting Pakistani security forces from Afghan soil. Ambassador Sadiq gave a detailed briefing to the state minister on the security situation of the region. Additional Secretary Afghanistan, Amir Aftab Qureshi and Director General Afghanistan, Asif Memon were also present during the meeting.
