Minister seeks fresh admin setup to run CPEC projects

ISLAMABAD  -   Federal Minister for Planning Development & Special Initiatives Ahsan Iqbal has directed for getting the required approval for the closure of China Pakistan Economic Corridor Authority (CPECA) and the establishment of an effective administrative structure for running the affairs of the corridor projects.
Following the directives of Ahsan Iqbal, the Planning Ministry of Planning Development and Special Initiative will move a summary to the Prime Minister of Pakistan for the abolishment of the CPEC Authority. While presiding over the progress review meeting on the projects initiated under this ministry, the minister has directed the concerned officials for getting approval for the abolishment of the dysfunctional CPEC Authority. Currently, the CPEC Authority is working with one Executive Director as the PTI government failed to hire its chairman or other members.
Ahsan Iqbal said that for the execution of CPEC projects effective administrative structure should be evolved. He said that for running the affairs of CPEC there is a need to work on long term administrative matters, he added. The incumbent government intends to dissolve CPECA owing to its poor performance and duplication of work.
The Minister also expressed displeasure over dysfunctionality of the Center of Excellence for CPEC, which was supposed to provide support for CPEC.
