LAHORE - A sessions court in Lahore on Monday deferred hearing on Punjab Assembly Speaker and PML-Q leader Parvez Elahi’s petition seeking registration of an FIR regarding assembly clashes in which he got injured and the police were reluctant to file. Additional Sessions Judge Hafiz Rizwan heard the petition filed by Parvez Elahi in which he pleaded the court to direct the police to register his FIR regarding ruckus in Punjab Assembly on April 16 during the election of chief minister of the province and Elahi, who was also a contender for the slot was attacked and got injured and broke his arm.
Parvez Elahi told the court that he sustained serious wounds when lawmakers became lawbreakers earlier in the ongoing month. The Punjab Assembly speaker said he approached the police against Hamza Shehbaz and other party lawmakers but to no avail.
Police buy time from court for producing report on next hearing
During the hearing, the police failed to present their report in the court. A police representative told the court that Civil Lines superintendent police would himself present the report during next hearing.
On this, the court adjourned the hearing till April 29. It is to be noted here that the Punjab Assembly speaker wants to lodge a case against CM-elect Hamza Sharif, Rana Mashood and others with the police.
