LAHORE - City Traffic Police Lahore (CTPL) has announced a crackdown against overcharging and overlaoding by the transporter during Eid holidays.
Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Lahore Muntazir Mehdi said that hundreds of thousands of people, majority of laborers, left the provincial capital to attend Eid festivities with their loved ones at their native towns and villages. However, it is unfortunate that the greedy transporters exploit them.
Mehdi said that they have devised a comprehensive plan this year to stop this. He has announced deployment of at least 84 wardens at 10 major bus stations particularly in Lorry Ada, Badami Bagh, Babu Sabu, Niazi Chowk, Thokar Niaz Beg, Shahdara Chowk, Begum Kot Chowk and Gajjumatta, of the city.
CTPL has also issued directions to the transporters to paste fare details at a prominent place in the vehicle.
Those overcharging from the poor public do not deserve any concession.
Mehdi has asked all the circle officers to hold a meeting with the transporters in their respective areas.
He announced to impound the vehicle found involved in overcharging or overloading.
They are taking measures against overloading to ensure a safe journey.
Mehdi said that extra deployment has been deployed on entry and exit points of the city also. He requested public to call at Police Helpline 15 in case of any help or complaint; while action will also be taken against those who overload the roof and inside the bus.
