LAHORE  -  Faithful observed Shab-e-Qadr across the city Thursday night with religious fervour and zeal.

Shab-e-Qadr, which according to the Holy Quran is better than 1,000-month worship, signifies the night when the first verses of the Holy Quran were revealed to Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him).

The faithful held special prayers, nawafil, zikr, Quran Khawani and religious discussions in mosques and in their houses in line with the traditional practice, seeking mercy and blessings of Almighty Allah.

So valuable is this Night of Qadr that the Quran devotes a special Surah to it, saying: “Indeed, We sent the Qur’an down during the Night of Power. And what can make you know what the Night of Power is? The Night of Power is better than a thousand months. The angels and the Spirit descend therein by permission of their Lord for every matter. Peace it is until the emergence of dawn.” (97:1-5).
