CTP finalises traffic plan for Murree on Eid days

Rawalpindi - The City Traffic Police (CTP) on Monday unveiled a comprehensive   plan to regulate the traffic of tourists at the hill station town of Murree.

“Following the instructions of district government, the CTP will not allow entry of more than 8000 vehicles into Murree” said Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Navid Irshad, adding that Murree has parking spaces for only 3500 vehicles.

He said as many as 350 officers and traffic wardens will impart duty in Murree to ease traffic flow during Eid holidays. He said the traffic counting duty is being done by the wardens on almost all the entry points of Murree.

CTO also said the drivers without licences and motorcyclists sans helmets would not be allowed entry into Murree.

He said the education wing of CTP will also distribute pamphlets to guide the tourists. The Mall Road will remain closed for all vehicular   traffic, CTO said, adding, the heavy traffic including buses and trucks will not be allowed crossing or travelling to Lower Topa.

Meanwhile, Rawalpindi police finalised its security plan for Chand Raat and Eid ul Fitr. The plan was finalised under a high-level meeting at CPO Office.

SSP Operations Wasim Riaz, SSP Investigation Syed Ghazanfar Ali Shah, the divisional SPs and other senior and junior officers attended the meeting.

The meeting was informed that as many as 2800 well equipped cops and police officers would perform security duty in the city on Chand Raat. Similarly, some 400 cops will perform duty during Eid holidays to thwart one wheeling and to maintain law and order.

The police will also be assisted by Elite Force, Dolphin and Mohafiz Squad during security duty. Mosques, Eidgahs and Imambargahs would also be shielded by police during Eid prayer.
