Four killed, several injured in Sargodha traffic accidents

SARGODHA   –   Three persons were killed and several others sustained injuries in a traffic accident that occurred near Shahpur Saddar area of Sargodha district, Rescue sources reported on Thursday.

According to details, a rashly driven car was passing through Shahpur Saddar Road when it collided with a van and three-wheeler Rickshaw coming from opposite direction. As a result, three persons including children and women died on the spot.

Over one dozen people were also injured in the same accident. The injured were taken to nearby hospital for treatment. The police reached the site of accident and are investigating the matter. Separately, a motorcyclist was killed in a road accident in Tarkhanawala police precincts on Thursday. The police said that Muhammad Naveed, 21, a resident of Farooka was riding a motorcycle when a speeding car hit the two-wheeler. He received critical injuries and died on-the-spot without getting medical assistance. Police handed over the body to the heirs after medico-legal formalities and registered a case against car driver.

Nine arrested, contraband seized

The district police on Thursday arrested nine drug pushers and recovered drugs and weapons from them. A spokesman said that teams of different police stations conducted raids and arrested accused besides recovering 1.9-kg hashish, 70-liter liquor, two pistols and a gun. The accused were identified as Nazir, Shoukat, Fareed, Umar, Qasim, Taimoor and others. Police had registered separate cases and started investigation.
