Naveed Qamar vows to extend support to textile industry

ISLAMABAD – Federal Minister for Commerce, Syed Naveed Qamar chaired a meeting Friday with Karachi textile industry regarding market access and textile support package for DLTL, gas, energy and pending refunds. The minister was informed about the challenges and issues faced by the textile sector especially gas supply, sales tax and refund issues. The textile industry panel consisted of Zaki Bashir, Chief Executive Officer Gul Ahmed, Yaqub Ahmed, Chairman DENIM, and other notables. They welcomed the Federal Minister for Commerce in the ministry with a hope to boost the industrial sector due to his immense experience in the sector. They presented their issues before the federal minister with request for immediate redressal in order to let the industry boost up. The minister was appealed to resolve the issues of gas supply, drawback of Local Taxes and Levies (DLTL), energy and pending refunds. Syed Naveed Qamar ensured his complete support to solve the issues of industrial sector on top priority and he ensured them that he would discuss them in his upcoming meeting with finance ministry. The minister informed the textile industry representatives that the gas supply was affected due to increase in the demand of gas, however, every effort would be made to supply gas to industrial sector in order to boost economy of the country.  The textile industrial representatives requested to lessen the sales tax on raw materials especially cotton. The Federal Minister for Commerce ensured that all efforts would be made to provide relief to industrial sectors and boost up the economy through exports.
