Fire erupts at Margalla Hills again

ISLAMABAD – A fire erupted again at Margalla Hills on Sunday that was later controlled by the joint efforts of CDA, MCI and IWMB. The fire incident was reported at scenic Margalla Hills in front of sector E-11, that prompted city managers to rush to the site and they started operation to control the fire.

The fire was controlled by the  joint efforts of CDA, MCI and IWMB

The teams of the Environment Wing, Emergency and Disaster Management and Islamabad Wildlife Management Board took part in the operation. Later, CDA’s Director Public Relations informed that the major part of the fire was controlled and situation was now normal there but he explained that due to terrain and high winds, fire control efforts were hampered in the start.  Few days back, following the emergence of back-to-back wildfire videos involving TikTokers in recent days, the Wildlife officials have demanded the government to bring legislation to protect the forests in the country. The environment directorate of CDA also requested local police to register an FIR against the people seen in the videos but the DG environment Irfan Niazi said that the fire video was not recorded at Margalla Hills in the jurisdiction of Islamabad but somewhere in the area of Haripur.
