Arrangements finalised to hold LG polls on June 26: DEC Pervez Ahmed
HYDERABAD – District Election Commissioner Pervez Ahmed Kalwar has said that all arrangements have been finalised to hold Local Bodies Elections scheduled on June 26, 2022.
According to a statement issued here on Thursday, Pervez Ahmed said that elections would be held for one municipal corporation, 56 wards of 8 town committees and 19 union committees of two town municipal corporations, which included Sakrand-15, Shahpur Jahania-4, Qazi Ahmed-7, Daulatpur-5, Daur-9 and 8 wards of Banhi Town Committee.
It said that Local Bodies Elections would also be held in 59 union councils of the district. A total of 670 polling stations were set up for elections out of which 177 were for men, 177 for women and 316 polling stations were for both. During the elections, 5,00,278 male and 4,17,850 female voters would cast their votes, the statement said. It further said that at 670 polling stations, a total of 2538 polling booths were set up out of which 1313 booths were for male and 1225 booths were for female voters. During the elections, 670 presiding officers, 6604 assistant presiding officers, 538 polling officers and 670 other staff would discharge their duties.
Sindh LG polls: JUI-F joins hands with PTI to give tough time to PPP
Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam Fazl (JUI-F) and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), Sindh chapter, on Thursday announced seat-to-seat adjustment in several Union Councils (UCs) of Shikarpur and Jacobabad in the upcoming local government elections in Sindh to give tough time to PPP.
As per details, JUI-F, which is a part of a nine-party coalition government in Centre, has formed an alliance with its rival party in KPK Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), for local government polls in Sindh scheduled for June 26.
The local leadership of PTI and JUI-F announced to support each other candidates in Union Councils of Shikarpur and Jacobabad districts. The JUI-F has also announced to stage public rallies across Sindh for the upcoming local govt elections. The party will hold a rally in Sukkur on June 18 which would be addressed by JUI-F Chief Maulana Fazl-ur-Rehman.
According to details, 946 candidates have been elected unopposed from 14 districts of Sindh in the first phase of the local body elections in Sindh.
Data issued by the ECP shows that a total of 96 candidates from Kashmore Kandhkot, 70 from Qambar Shahdadkot, 135 from Jacobabad, 94 from Shikarpur, and 11 from Larkana, 65 from Mirpur Khas and 65 candidates from Umerkot have been elected unopposed. The polling for the first phase of the local body election in Sindh will be held on June 26, 2022.
The government has ordered deploying rangers to maintain the law and order situation in the local body elections.
