PAT announces countrywide protest on 17th

LAHORE - Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) on Saturday announced countrywide protest against non-provision of justice for the victims of Model Town massacre. The nationwide protest was decided in the Pakistan Awami Tehreek’s (PAT) Majlis-e-Shura that met in Lahore. The PAT’s shura said that the appeals pending for years in the Model Town incident are ultimately benefiting the accused in the tragedy. The shura said that the victims of the tragedy are asking who wants to save the killers of Model Town. PAT secretary general Khurram Nawaz Gandapur said that they are looking to the judiciary for justice.

Student ends life over ‘tough’ examination paper

A student has committed suicide after getting a ‘tough’ paper in the examination as claimed by the police. According to police, the 18-year-old student committed suicide at his home after hanging himself from a ceiling fan in Sundar area. The identity of the boy has yet to be ascertained. Police launched an investigation into the incident. This is not the first such incident as recently a final year MBBS student of Nishtar Medical University attempted suicide, claiming he was failed deliberately during his viva test. A video message was released from the student identified as Kashif Raza soon after he gained consciousness at the Nishtar Hospital.

In another incident, an 18-year-old medical student committed suicide in Narowal with police claiming that the girl committed the act after she found it difficult to clear her papers. Eighteen-year-old Zainab committed suicide at her home. She was the student of First Year D-Pharmacy.
