Benazir promised egalitarian, progressive society to future generations: Bilawal
ISLAMABNAD – Pakistan People’s Party chief Bilawal Bhutto Zardari said yesterday that former Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto was the name of a way of thinking and a path that guarantees liberation of the people from deprivation. In a tweet on her birthday, celebrated on June 21, he said Benazir Bhutto promised an egalitarian and progressive society to future generations. During the day, the PPP celebrated the 69th birth anniversary of the first female elected Prime Minister of the Islamic world, Benazir Bhutto. Bilawal, who is also the Foreign Minister, pledged that by adhering to the philosophy of Benazir Bhutto, he would continue to struggle to eradicate poverty, hunger, and unemployment from the country as well as ensure socio-economic justice by strengthening parliament and democracy. “It is the victory of the vision of Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto that the democratic forces in the country today are united and determined to take the country out of the difficulties it is facing,” he said. Bilawal Bhutto said that due to her insurmountable services, struggle, and selfless love for the people of the nation, Benazir Bhutto will live forever in history.
PPP pays tribute to Benazir Bhutto on her birthday
“The principles of Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto will always be a beacon for us,” he added. Former President Asif Ali Zardari and husband of the late Benazir Bhutto earlier said that PPP will fulfill dreams of Benazir under the leadership of Bilawal Bhutto Zardari. The PPP leaders and workers organised cake cutting ceremonies across the country to celebrate the day.
Federal Minister for Climate Change Sherry Rehman took to Twitter and wrote, “You live on in our hearts in ways no one else could. Our journey together is still unfinished. Your redemptive light still guides many of us on a path you trod with infinite grace and courage. May you shine on forever.”
Sindh Assembly member Qasim Soomro praised the first woman Prime Minister of the Islamic world and shared her words in which Benazir Bhutto said that our government provided opportunities to the people for peace, security, dignity, and development.
PPP Secretary General Nayyar Bukahri also led a cake cutting ceremony in Islamabad and paid tribute to the late leader.
Former Interior Minister Rehman Malik’s son Umar Rehman Malik also lauded the services of Benazir Bhutto for democracy. He said Benazir Bhutto lives in people’s hearts.
