CEC orders ‘indiscriminate action’ against election code violators

LAHORE – Chief Election Commissioner Sikandar Sultan Raja Saturday directed the Law Enforcement Agencies (LAEs) to maintain law and order during by-election in the Punjab province being held on 17th of this month.

He said this while chairing a meeting to review arrangements for by-elections in twenty Provincial constituencies and fourteen districts of the province in Lahore on Saturday. On the occasion, Chief Secretary Punjab Kamran Ali Afzal briefed the meeting regarding preparation of by-election and assured the provincial government will provide all out support for by-election.

Inspector General of Punjab Police also briefed the meeting about security arrangements. Speaking on this occasion, the CEC said maintaining law and order and providing security to staff is responsibility of provincial and federal governments. Sikandar Sultan Raja also directed for indiscriminate action against those who violate code of conduct.
