LG re-polls held in 8 dists of Balochistan

ISLAMABAD – The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) yesterday informed that re-polling of local government elections in thirteen wards of eight districts of Balochistan was held peacefully. The polling started at 8am and continued till 5pm without any break.Tight security arrangements were made to avoid any untoward incident. According to a press statement of ECP, Chief Election Commissioner (CEC), Sikandar Sultan Raja has also directed law enforcement agencies to maintain law and order during by-election in Punjab, being held on 17th of this month. The CEC said this while chairing a meeting to review arrangements for by-elections in twenty provincial constituencies and fourteen districts of the province, it said. Punjab Chief Secretary, Kamran Ali Afzal briefed the meeting regarding preparation of by-election and assured the provincial government will provide all out support for by-election. IGP, Punjab also briefed the meeting about security arrangements. Speaking on the occasion, the CEC said, maintaining law and order and providing security to staff is responsibility of provincial and federal governments. Sikandar Sultan Raja also directed for indiscriminate action against those who violate code of conduct.
