Pakistan’s Hussnain off to Europe for Grand Slam Player Development Programme

LAHORE - Pakistan’s Muhammad Hussnain Ali Rizwan, who is ATF ranked No. 2, has departed for Europe after he has been selected for the Grand Slam Player Development Programme (GSPDP)/ITF/ATF 14&U Team. The GSPDP team that included ATF second seed Hussnain, proceeded to Paris on Saturday (July 2, 2022) to participate in the Grand Slam Player Development Programme. This is for the first time in the history of Pakistan tennis and a proud moment for Pakistan that a Pakistani 14&Under player has been selected by the ITF/ATF for a team travelling to Europe.
The training camp of the GSPDP is being held in Paris, France from July 1 to 3. After the championship, back-to-back tournaments will be held, here the GSPDP team will take part. The tournaments include OPEN STADE FRANCAIS, Coquette, France from July 4-10, La Balle Mimosa Loire-Atlantique La Baule- Escoublac, France from July 11-17, TOURNOI LOIRE VALLEE, Blois, France from July 18-24, Internationale Deutsche Tennismeisterschaften U14 Duren, Germany from July 25-30 and Young Champions Cup, Hasselt, Belgium from August 1-7.
In a statement, Pakistan Tennis Federation (PTF) President Salim Saifullah Khan said: “The selection of Hussnain Ali Rizwan is a huge honour for the country and a matter of great pride for the Pakistan Tennis Federation. The selection of young lads will prove to be a source of great inspiration for the other young promising players. Through hard work, dedication and passion for tennis, such targets can be achieved by them.”
Salim Saifullah Khan also extended his gratitude and appreciation to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for facilitation and ensuring the endorsement of a visa in a very short time through personal concern and interest.
Meanwhile, Punjab Lawn Tennis Association (PLTA) Secretary General Rashid Malik (Tamgha-e-Imtiaz) also congratulated Hussnain Ali Rizwan, his father and the PTF for his selection in the GSPDP team and hoped that this training and opportunity will help in sharpening the game and skills of the ATF second seed player. “Hopefully, young Pakistani tennis sensation Hussnain will work hard and learn finest techniques of the game from the training at the world’s one of the best tennis academies and also improve his game and skills while playing against the best in the business.”
