Police arrest 2 suspects from PTI’s public gathering
ISLAMABAD –Police have arrested two suspects who were trying to enter public gathering of former premier Imran Khan by breaching police security, informed a police spokesman on Saturday.
Police also recovered weapon from one of the suspects and moved them to police station for further investigation, he said.
According to him, the police along with personnel of other law enforcement agencies are conducting body search of participants of the public rally when the cops detected the suspicious movement of two men. He said cops overwhelmed the two suspects and seized weapon from one of them during search. Both were moved to police station for interrogation.
In a statement, IG Islamabad Dr Akbar Nasir Khan said he had directed DIG Operations to beef up security of the public gathering of PTI chief Imran Khan at Parade Ground to avoid any untoward incident.
He said the police have adopted a comprehensive mechanism of body search by placing electronic walk through gates and metal detectors. He said police are utilizing all the resources to maintain law and order in capital besides shielding the lives and property of public.
He said that the cops have been ordered to conduct body checking of each and every person. “Terrorism threat exists in PTI public rally,” he said adding that no vehicle is allowed to park near the venue.
