Young Pakistan team needs time to produce best results: Muhammad Wasim

Chief selector Muhammad Wasim on Wednesday said that the youngsters of the national team will take some time to produce the best results.

He was addressing a press conference after announcing the ODI squad for Netherlands and T20 squad for Asia Cup at Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore. Fast bowler Naseem Shah has been named in both the squads in place of Hasan Ali, while Salman Ali Agha, who toured England in 2021 for the ODIs, has been recalled.

Responding to a question by this scribe, the chief selector said: “The squad that is being announced today does not have much-experienced players but we have to play with this side. Some of the players are new and not much experienced. That’s the reason why we have made this decision to give chance to those, who have less international experience in order to provide them international exposure.

“These players will become experienced after playing maximum games. The players need chances whether they play big games or small,” he added.
