LAHORE - An additional district and sessions judge on Wednesday framed murder charges against Naveed Iqbal (the step brother of Supreme Court judge Javed Iqbal) and his two accomplices Amin, and Atif Abbas for killing his parents. On Wednesday, all three accused were produced before the judge Chaudhry Ameer Muhammad Khan who, during the 35-minute trial proceedings, pleaded not guilty. The judge after hearing the accused ordered the jail authorities to produce them along with the evidence and witnesses by May 16. The challan of the accused persons claimed that confessed to the crime. However, the accused had, in their contradictory statements, tried to put the responsibility of the crime on each other. The police, however, maintains that through circumstantial evidence it was proved that all the three accused were involved in the murders. SUMMARY: Justice Umar Ata Bandial of the Lahore High Court Wednesday accepted the summary presented by the Punjab Health Department on the regularisation of as many as 1,800 postgraduate doctors performing duties at various hospitals over the last 17 years. It termed it a fair dispensation by the Punjab government which would accommodate all medical officers having postgraduate qualification as well as the left over contractees. Meanwhile, PMA Lahore President Dr Tanveer Anwar, General Secretary Dr Izhar Ahmad Chaudhry, Dr Ehsanur Rehman, Dr Shahid Malik, and Dr Salman Kazmi, in a joint statement, termed it a historical day for the doctor community and congratulated the 1,800 doctors on this achievement. The have further added that PMA had been struggling for the regularization of these doctors over the last 13 years and by its efforts these doctors have been regularized. Pakistan Medical Association have thanked the Chief Minister Punjab Mian Shahbaz Sharif and the Secretary Health Fawad Hasan Fawad for making personal efforts for the regularization of these doctors and resolving the issue which has been pending for last so many years.
