KARACHI - Unabated target killings continued in violence-hit provincial metropolis on Wednesday as five more persons were shot dead. In the first incident,which took place in Aziz Bhatti police limits, three persons including son-in-law of slain Allama Hassan Turabi were gunned down. The incident took place at Rashid Minhas road near Alauddin Park Gulshan-e-Iqbal block 10 where four unknown gunmen riding on two motorbikes, sprayed indiscriminate bullets on a moving vehicle ATL-674. Resultantly, three persons namely Syed Basharat Hussain, son of Ghulam Hussain, Shah Sawar Ali, son of Amin Hussain and Tahir Hussain son of Basharat sustained fatal bullets wounds. Meanwhile, a bullet-riddled body of a cop was found from Jalbani Goth Malir in the limits of Malir City police station. The victim was a 40-year-old police constable Muhammad Ayub son of Muhammad Akbar and resident of Future Colony, Landhi. Meanwhile, Sindh government has empowered Rangers for next three months to maintain the law and order situation in the provincial metropolis, which is getting worse day by day. Sindh government empowered the Rangers three months ago to eradicate the target killings and violence and that period ended on April 18th while government of Sindh again extended the duration of power for next three months. It is pertinent to mention here that the heavily armed Rangers have been deployed in the City since 1989, but unable to stop the increasing violence, target killings and other crimes.
