LAHORE City police on Wednesday claimed to have arrested a 35-year-old woman in connection with the mysterious killing of her mother-in-law, who was found dead at her house in Shadbagh police area after Tuesday midnight. Police said that the killer identified as Shagufta Bibi, resident of Chah Miran, murdered her mother-in-law Rashida Bibi in cold blood and later staged the drama stating that the old lady died after falling from the stairs. The police have also recovered the killing-weapon, an iron rod, after arresting the mother of four. The woman has confessed to the police investigators that she killed her mother-in-law with an iron rod in revenge as she used torture her mentally. The woman killed her mother-in-law by hitting her in the head with an iron rod in the absence of her husband. The woman cleverly hid the iron rod after washing it completely but the police investigators recovered the killing weapon during thorough search. The killer also told the police that she committed the crime because her mother-in-law used to force her to leave the house. Further investigations are underway. Meanwhile, a 27-year-old man was found dead under mysterious circumstances from Bhatti Gate police area on early Wednesday. The police investigators said that the man, yet to be identified so far, was lying dead along side the road as they rushed to the crime scene. Some passersby spotted the body and contacted the police. The police said that apparently the deceased was drug addict. The police have removed the body to the morgue for autopsy and are investigating. Meanwhile, a youth gunned down his younger brother over domestic dispute here in Shalimar area, police said on Wednesday. Mushtaq Ahmed told the police that his sons Mohammad Aslam and Mohammad Ashfaq, 25, exchanged harsh words when Aslam got infuriated, took out his gun and opened fire on his younger brother. Muhammad Ashfaq sustained multiple bullet wounds and was rushed to a nearby hospital, where doctors pronounced him dead. The killer managed to escape from the scene. The complainant also told police investigators that the deceased was a drug addict and he used to exchange harsh words with his mother. The police have removed the body to the morgue for an autopsy and are investigating. The police have also registered the case on the complaint of father of the deceased. Meanwhile, a 30-year-old man was killed while five others wounded seriously when two rival groups opened fire over property dispute here in Green Town area, police said on Wednesday. The condition of two of the injured was reported to be critical till filing of this report. Police investigators said that Mohammad Nadeem, 30, was killed while five others wounded when Virk group opened fire on Haji Younis group in Gulshan Colony the vicinity of Green Town police. The injured were rushed to a nearby hospital. Police said that Virk group and Haji Younis group had dispute over the ownership of a plot located in the same area. The police have removed the body to the morgue for autopsy and are investigating.
