RAWALPINDI - The City District Government Rawalpindi (CDGR) on Friday declared a state of emergency in the three Allied Hospitals (AHs) to cure the plane crash victims if any.Moreover, the young doctors also called off their seven-day long strike and assumed their duties in all the departments of District Headquarters (DHQ) Hospital, Benazir Bhutto Hospital (BBH) and Holy Family Hospital (HFH) to cope with any emergency situation. However, no injured or dead person arrived in these hospitals, hospital sources said.Security around Benazir Bhutto Islamabad International Airport (BBIIAP), on which flights operations remained suspended for few hours, has also been beefed up to avoid any crunch moment.According to a spokesman of DHQ hospital, all the senior doctors have been called back on duty with arranging all life-saving drugs in the Emergency Department. He said, “The hospital administration is fully prepared to deal with any kind of emergency,” he added.HFH Medical Superintendent Dr Fayyaz Ahmed, while talking to TheNation, was of the view that a state of emergency has been announced in the hospital and all the paramedics were ready to provide the medical treatment of the plane crash if any body was brought to the hospital. Young Doctors Association (YDA) spokesman Dr Junaid Abbasi said that YDA immediately called off its strike in AHs and sent a team of medical students and doctors at the site of plane crash. Dr Haroon, YDA Punjab President, went on saying that all the young doctors were called in Emergency Departments and a team led by Dr Abbas also gone to the plane crash site to provide medical treatment to the victims.On the other hand, a large number of relatives of the victim passengers, who arrived at airport to receive the beloved ones, burst into tears soon after hearing the news of the tragic incident. Heart moving scenes could be witnessed on the airport as some of the relatives got unconscious. Many of them including women and children rushed to the plane crash site even in heavy drizzling; nonetheless, they could not reach on the site because of huge traffic blockage on Airport Road and Hermaira Road.
