PESHAWAR - Federation of All Pakistan Universities’ Academic Staff Association (FAPUASA), Khyber Pakhtunkhwa chapter, has lauded the efforts of Higher Education Sector for providing support to public sector universities, enabling them to get high ranking at international level.  

FAPUASA Khyber Pakhtunkhwa chapter president Prof Dr Hamayun Khan and general secretary Dr Mohammad Shafi have appreciated the performance of the higher education sector in Pakistan. In a press statement they said that an investment of about Rs 160 billion was made in universities system during 2005-2009, that had resulted practical oriented research relevant to socio-economic and industrial requirements of the country.

It was added that this financial support of government had also improved the ranking and performance of the public sector universities at international level. 

The financial support of government led to a strong linkage of the higher education with industry and job market, release said adding the acquisition of education rewards the whole society.

The FAPUASA general secretary also pointed in the release that enrolment in higher education institutes and universities across the country had been increased from 3 to 8 percent, because of the growth and efficient performance of public sector universities. Innovation, creativity and coordinated research with team spirit are the basic part of university system, the release stated.

FAPUASA Khyber Pakhtunkhwa chapter also suggested the government that the recently proposed private bill regarding the financial system of Universities in National Assembly needs debate in academic forums, and cautioned that implementation of such type of private bills in hurry may create further financial problems to university of the country.
