RAWALPINDI Residents of Police Colony have expressed grave concern over non-supply of gas to the residential quarters. PWD had completed over 100 quarters in police line in 1986 and handed them over to Rawalpindi Police. Due to connivance among the contractors and police officers gas meters were not installed in these quarters at the time of their construction, said a group of residents. Direct supply of gas continued which was later disconnected by Sui Gas department declaring the police colony defaulter on payment of Rs 6500000.
IG Police Punjab Haji Habib ur Rehman held a press conference in police line and his attention was diverted to disconnection of gas supply. He promised that gas supply would be restored within a month but his orders have not been implemented so far, said Akbar Ali a resident.
“We are poor employees and we can not afford to buy our meals 3 times a day from hotels as our wives can not make any cooking arrangements due to non availability of gas,” said Noor Muhammad, a resident. The residents demanded immediate supply of gas to the quarters as lack of this facility has made their lives miserable.
