Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Saqib Nisar Saturday, while categorically denying the rumours of a judicial martial law, said all 17 judges would resign if such a thing were to happen.

"Only democracy can prevail in Pakistan. Quaid-e-Azam only envisaged democracy in Pakistan,” said the chief justice while addressing an event at Aiwan-e-Iqbal in Lahore.

"There is no room for martial law in the constitution. I earlier said that if any such move is made, I will leave my post."

Chief Justice Nisar lamented that people in Pakistan are not grateful towards their homeland.

“Nations which don’t have a country of their own are very unfortunate. How can anyone be ungrateful towards their own homeland?

“We are present here because of this country,” he added.
