ISLAMABAD - The former Opposition leader in the National Assembly and an estranged stalwart of PML-N Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan is likely to increase his activities in the ‘constituency’ after Eid-ul-Fitr.

The veteran politician, who never compromises on his self-respect is sitting at the corner nowadays and deciding his ‘options’ carefully in the wake of the recent no-confidence saga and its aftermaths as well. Though he lost the National Assembly’s seat in the general elections of 2018 except a landmark victory on a provincial assembly’s seat with a margin of 34,000 votes, he himself and his supporters believe that his mandate was ‘stolen’ by some hidden hands. He made a public appearance on Wednesday, when he reached into his constituency to offer condolences on the sad demise of an elder brother of his old supporter at Morgah—an area in Rawalpindi. He poured his heart there before the participants but termed most of his discussion as ‘off the record’ in his usual style by saying; “I will tell the rest of the things at the right time”. Nisar Ch, who never accepted his first defeat in his entire political career in 2018 and on many occasions argued that how it was possible that he lost a national assembly seat from a ‘new comer’ in the same constituency, where he was elected with a huge margin on the provincial assembly’s seat. “Is it possible that people voted for me in the provincial seat but not in the National Assembly’s seat”, he took a stance earlier. People well known to him say that he is the man who carries his supporters in a manner no other politician can do irrespective of his position whether he is in power or not. It is unclear yet what will be his next move but one can take a perception after meeting him that he is quite confident for his revival into national politics again but definitely he will not play on a ‘lose wicket’ and wait for a right time to make the right decision.

As of today he is tight lipped on the question whether he will contest next general elections on a party ticket or as an independent candidate and even by making his own party or group in national politics. However, one thing which is quite certain and it is an open secret that he is still depending upon his support base in the constituency and he did not break his connections with the local leaders of his constituency but he had increased his public interaction after 2018.

Now, he is expecting the elections anytime soon and he seems in a ‘primitive mode’ ahead of the electoral fight for which he has decided to pull down his feet into the constituency and he wants to reorganise his support base for next general elections.

He has decided to go into his constituency right after Eid-ul-Fitr, where in first place he will start to address small gatherings of his workers and supporters and then he will move towards bigger political gatherings once momentum would be built in the constituency.
