For the love of country

Musharraf seems to be history now and I do not want to dwell upon him. But I am perturbed over the prospects of the nation in the post-Musharraf era. I don't wish to talk about economic or political issues. They are there and are well known to all of us. I would instead draw attention towards the moral issue of we having to learn to respect each other. Respect institutions and respect the law. Let us grow a little sapling of honesty. Let us try to reduce, if not altogether eradicate, corruption. Let us be honest to our work, whatever we may be doing. Let us all be committed patriots who love their country. -AMJAD HABIB MIRZA, Lahore, via e-mail, August 16.
