ISLAMABAD - Most of the Parliamentarians belonging to the Pakistan People's Party want to see the party Co-Chairman Asif Ali Zardari in the office of President of Pakistan and vociferously put forth their demand at the dinner meeting at Zardari House on Wednesday. PPP Co-Chairman Asif Ali Zardari hosted the dinner for party MPs and the function turned into a sort of parliamentary party meeting as almost all the MNAs and Senators of the party were in attendance and all of them were of the view that Senator Asif Ali Zardari was the most suitable person for the slot of President. When the pressure from the MPs increased, Zardari said that the matter would be discussed in the Central Working Committee meeting of the party scheduled for Friday (tomorrow). Party Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari's presence gave a rejuvenated spirit to the meeting as most of the MPs "saw the reflection of their assassinated life chairperson Ms Benazir Bhutto in him". In a similar fashion, the four Ps President Makhdoom Amin Fahim was conspicuous by his absence though he was in the federal capital but did not turn up on the dinner hosted in honour of MPs by no other then the party Co-Chairman. The sources privy to the deliberations of the meeting disclosed to The Nation that most of the members were of the view that Asif Ali Zardari should come forward for the slot of President of Pakistan while a few MNAs opposed the suggestion and said that it would create problems for the party and its working in the coalition government. These MPs were of the view that Asif Ali Zardari's services should be more needed as party Co-Chairman and the party would suffer a lot if he opted to become a President of Pakistan. Meanwhile Co-Chairman PPP Senator Asif Ali Zardari had a series of meetings in the Zardari House in backdrop of latest political developments in the country throughout the day. An internal Party meeting was held today to discuss issues in the post-Musharraf period in which the Chairman of the Party Bilawal Bhutto Zardari also participated. The meeting was attended by Secretary General of the Party Jahangir Badar, Leader of the House in Senate Mian Raza Rabbani, Federal Minister Chaudhry Ahmed Mukhtar, Sherry Rehman, Raja Parvez Ashraf, Khursheed Shah, Qamar Zaman Kaira, Shah Mahmood Qureshi, President PPP Balochistan Mir Lashkari Raeesani and Party's Spokesperson former Senator Farhatullah Babar.
