Pakistan Premier Soccer League OUR STAFF REPORTER LAHORE - Afghan Football Club earned point with spirited 0-0 draw against Navy in the 57th encounter of  PFF's blue-riband event Pakistan Premier Soccer League 2008. The tense, absorbing 90-minutes tussle was played in front of huge supporters at Govt. High School, Chaman. The second leg will be played after Eidul Fitr at Naval Complex, Islamabad on 19 November 2008. It was third consecutive draw between two sides. Afghan-Navy clash was ninth clash between two in PPFL history. The previous eight matches saw Navy winning four times, while Afghans were victorious on two occasions. Two matches ended in 2-2 draw : both last season. A hectic opening ten minutes could have seen both sides get on the scoresheet. Afghans took the game to the seamen right from the kick off, and on six minutes a Jadid Khan free kick was headed in at the far post by Mehmood Khan, but the Assistant Referee's flag was already up for offside. Just a minute later Navy striker Muhammad Basharat missed a great opportunity for visitors to take the lead. Midfielder Jabbar Hussain got to the byline in the Afghan area. He pulled the ball back to Basharat, who blasted his shot over the bar from close range with the goal at his mercy. Afghans, who caused sensation by finishing fourth in 2005 edition (finishing ninth in other three), might have scored in the 43rd minute but Ahmed Shah failed to steer ball past Muhammad Shahzad. Navy, whose best standing was sixth in 2004 show, initiated moves through Nomi Martin Gil, Asif Mehmood and Sajjad Ahmed but poor finishing tarnished their image.
