ISLAMABAD : The agricultural research system has developed 24 crop varieties of barley, cotton, oilseeds, sugarcane and pulses in one year which were approved and released for production to ensure food security in the country. Ministry of National Food Security and Research, while enumerating the measures taken to promote agricultural sector, on Tuesday said a total of 30 training courses were conducted by Pakistan Agricultural Research Council (PARC) to train 1034 participants during last year. Additionally, 62 students completed M. Phil degree programme while 25 Ph.D students were enrolled at PARC Institute of Advanced Studies in Agriculture. Pakistan Agricultural Supply & Services Corporation (PASSCO) has been directed to stabilize wheat/flour prices, keep watch on price trends and release wheat from its stocks.
