LAHORE : German Ambassador to Pakistan Dr Cyrill Nunn has said there is wide scope to further enhance trade and economic ties between Pakistan and Germany. He was addressing a ceremony here after launching the Lahore Office of PGBF. President Northern Chapter of PGBF Masud Akhtar and a large number of representatives were also present.  He said, “Both Germany and Pakistan will benefit from stronger business ties and the launch of the Lahore office is an important step for the business communities in both the countries.”

The German ambassador said the strategic dialogue at level of Foreign Secretaries between Pakistan and Germany would be held in last quarter of 2013 in Islamabad to further strengthen bilateral ties in all fields. He said the second round of the strategic dialogue will focus on bilateral economic issues. The German ambassador said both Germany and Pakistan are planning to undertake further efforts to foster mutual business relations. He said “Pakistan Business Days” will take place in Berlin and Munich from October 30 to November 1 this year. He said organized and facilitated by the Karachi-based PGBF, a delegation of Pakistani companies will travel to Germany to meet with potential German business partners.

The focus will be on energy, textiles and mechanical engineering, he added.

Against this background, Germany offers assistance in enhancing corporate social responsibility, human rights and core labour standards in textile manufacturing, aimed at improving working conditions for employees.
