Both the rivals- the PML-N and PTI have been making high claims of victory in the by-election to PP-123, scheduled for Thursday (tomorrow).
Candidates of both the parties are making hectic efforts to drum up maximum support for their victory.
Five candidates Mansha Ullah Butt (PML-N), Muhammad Dawood Pervaiz (PTI), Haji Mushtaq Ahmed Mughal (PPP) and two independent candidates - Ch Yaseen Gujjar and Hafiz Muhammad Raza are in the race for PP-123.
As the election campaign is in its final stage, the candidates are going door-to-door to seek votes from people. However, the local independent political observers are of the view that the PML-N would have a clear edge over his rivals - the PTI and PPP in the constituency.
It is to be noted that Federal Minister for Water and Power Khawaja Muhammad Asif vacated the seat by retaining his national assembly seat (NA 110, Sialkot-I) after winning both of the seats in the May 11 general elections.
Meanwhile, Sialkot Returning Officer (RO) Nadeem Gulzar said that there were 168,246 registered voters in the constituency. The number of male voters is 94,873 and 73,373 are female voters. As many as 103 polling stations and 327 polling booths have been established for the Aug 22, by-poll to ensure free, fair, transparent and impartial conduct of the election, he added.
