The floods in Sutlej River has devastated more than 41 villages, consisting of 12,421 acres of land, damaging 1,712 homes and standing crops on 10,921 acres of land here in the district, said Vehari DCO Jawad Akram here the other day.
On the other hand, water flow of 55,000 cusecs was recorded in Sutlej at Islam Headwork, 55,800 cusecs at Sulemanki Headwork and 100,000 cusecs water at Ganda Singh Wala Headwork. The water level is expected to increase after the release of water in Hurrike Headwork by India.
Meanwhile a Rescue 1122 worker Syed Naveed Ahmad was injured because of snake bite in the river when he was busy in providing rescue services to the flood affectees. He was rushed to THQ Hospital Burewala and is in a stable condition according to the doctors.
Meanwhile PML-N MNA Chaudhry Nazir Ahmad Arain along with Assistant Commissioner Saifullah Sajid, DSP Sajjad Muhammad Khan Tikka, Medical Superintendent Rana Muhammad Akram and others officials visited Sahuka, Jamlera and Saldera areas along River Sutlej and inspected arrangements made by the local administration for the flood affectees. Chaudhry Nazir Ahmad assured complete support to the affectees and added that the provincial government would leave no stone unturned to provide relief to people.
