Death sentence awarded

LAHORE - Anti-terrorist court on Monday awarded death sentence on two counts to one Asfand Yar in a murder for ransom case along with the fine of Rs 1,10,000 to the murderer for killing Adil Butt upon failing in giving ransom money of Rs 30 million by Adils heirs. As per case details, the petitioner namely Sabir Butt, father of Adil Butt, had filed a case against the accused Asfand Yaar, Temour and Uzair who had allegedly killed Adil Butt. The petitioner alleged that the accused persons had killed his son Adil Butt last year. The court released the other two accused Temour and Uzair. Meanwhile, District and Sessions Court on Monday handed over two children to their mother after getting them recovered from their fathers illegal custody. Rukhsana, a resident of Manawan had filed a habeas corpus petition in the court alleging that her husband namely Younis was detaining his two children, ten years old daughter Tanzeela and three-year-old Waheed. Rukhsana contended that she had a bitter wedlock due to domestic quarrel between both of them had become a routine matter. She said that a few days back, her husband tortured her and kicked her out from his house and snatched her two children also. She implored the court for the recovery of her children. On her plea, the court served a notice to Younis at his residence after which he produced both the children before the court where they were handed over to their mother.
