ISLAMABAD - Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani termed the visit of the Chinese Premier to Pakistan very significant, saying it would open up new avenues of cooperation in diverse fields besides cementing already strong ties between the two states. The Prime Minister was talking to ministers and parliamentarians who called on him separately at his Parliament House Chamber here in the Monday afternoon. The ministers and MNAs included Minister for Textile Industry Rana Muhammad Farooq Saeed Khan, Minister of State for Economic Affaris Hina Rabbani Khar, MNAs, Faryal Talpur, Farhat Khan and Mian Tariq Habib. Premier Gilani said that the Chinese investors had shown keen interest in the energy, telecom, agriculture and many other sectors, which would bring large-scale investment to the country thus, resulting in the opening of vast employment opportunities. The Prime Minister appreciated the parliamentarians for according befitting welcome to the Chinese Prime Minister on his arrival to address the joint session. He thanked all the political parties for expressing unity in consolidating the country's friendship with China The Prime Minister said that frequent exchanges of delegations between the two countries, especially the parliamentarians were very important as it would further strengthen people-to-people contact. The Prime Minister said that it is the duty of the parliamentarians to closely monitor the development assistance being provided by the friendly countries to ensure the maximum and efficient utilisation of the aid. He added that it would enhance the credibility of the Government and people of Pakistan in the eyes of their international friends. Rana Muhammad Farooq Saeed Khan, Minister for Textile Industry, presented cheques of Rs 2.2 million to the Prime Minister in the flood relief fund being contributed by the workers of the Textile industry. The Prime Minister thanked the workers of the Textile Industry for their friendly gesture.
