SIALKOT-A seminar was held on “Media’s Role in Nation Building” at the auditorium of University of Gujrat (UoG)’s Sialkot Campus by its International Relations Department.

Addressing the seminar, various speakers including renowned anchor Reham Khan has stressed the implementation of media ethics by the print, electronic and social media for promoting national harmony, unity and tolerance.

They also discussed the role of media in nation-building and responsible reporting. Reham Khan said that Pakistani media should discourage the sense of negativity through Promotion of positivity trying to play its pivotal role. She said that the media should follow ethics, rules and regulations. She said that the time is ripe when media influence could bring national and international changes.

She said, “It is also prime obligation of the Pakistani media to unite the nation in all matters, besides, promoting the unity, reality and national identity of the masses as well.” She said that the media influences at all levels in the world. She said that no one could deny importance and influence of the media in any regime.

Reham added media should encourage positivity in every segment, showing truth and reality to the nation. She said that promotion of national harmony, tolerance and nation-building by the media are necessary.

She said that Pakistani nation is only united in the common miseries, adding that the media should discourage promotion of negativity and hate.

To a question, Reham narrated that the media could also play an instrumental role in curbing the menace of deprivation, poverty, terrorism, intolerance and unemployment by adopting the positive ways of creating, making and highlighting the news keeping in mind the national interests.

UoG Sialkot Campus CE Rehan Younas, Chairman Faisal Malik, Director Students Affairs Kaleem Raza, Sialkot Press Club VC Abid Hussain Mehdi, senior faculty members and a large number of the students were also present.
