KARACHI: SSP Malir Rao Anwaar has been proved to be innocent in an inquiry ordered by the Sindh chief minister for misuse of power.

Rao Anwaar was suspended from his duties on 16 September following the arrest of Leader of the Opposition in Sindh Assembly Khwaja Izharul Hassan from his home.

After the suspension, the SSP addressed a press conference and termed his suspension from duty as a wrongful act.

“I was placed under suspension in haste and it was wrong to do so,” said Rao Anwaar. He asserted that there would be ‘side effects’ of suspending him.

A committee was formed under DIG Dr Jameel, which after investigating the matter cleared him of all the charges of misuse of power.

The report has been forwarded to the chief minister.
