LAHORE -  ZTBL and Dollar East started their Shoe Planet Pakistan Polo Cup 2016 campaigns on a winning note as they carved out contrastive wins in their respective matches played here at the Lahore Polo Club (LPC) ground on Tuesday.

In the inaugural match of the day, two and half goal handicap advantage helped ZTBL beat Master Paints by 6 ½-6. Saqib Khan Khawani was top scorer from the winning side as he thwarted three goals while Bilal Haye and Mumtaz Abbas contributed with one goal apiece. Hissam Ali Hyder though remained the top scorer of the match by hammering fabulous goals yet his team failed to score a victory. Ahmed Ali Tiwana also hit one goal from the losing side.

ZTBL started the match with two and half goal handicap advantage and struck another through Bilal Haye to take 3½-0 lead. Master Paints bounced back in style as their hero Hissam Hyder pumped in two back-to-back goals to reduce the margin to 3½-2, which was again enhanced by Saqib Khakwani, to finish the chukker at 4½-2. After the highly-charged first chukker, only one goal was scored in the second where Mumtaz Abbas hit a field goal for ZTBL to increase their lead to 5½-2.

The third chukker was fully dominated by Master Paints as they slammed two goals goal through Hissam to reduce the deficit to 5½-4. In the fourth and conclusive chukker, ZTBL players once again played well and added one more goal to their tally to strengthen their lead to 6½-4, but it was all they could get from the match, as after that, Master Paints made a comeback and pumped in two congestive goals to make it 6½-6. They kept on struggling to score further goal but the final whistle was blown declaring ZTBL as winners. Omar Asjad Malhi and Andres Crispo supervised the match as field umpires.

In the second match of the day, Dollar East carved out an easy 4-2 victory against Army Colts. It was high-flying Andres Crispo who played tremendous polo and slammed all the four goals for Dollar East. From the losing side, another foreign player Daniel Marcelo Otmandi though struggled hard to score maximum goals for his team yet he could convert only one while the remaining one came from Muhammad.  Hissam Ali Hyder and Ahmed Ali Tiwana officiated the match as field umpires.
