Sialkot hospital runs short of 59 docs

SIALKOT-As many as 52 posts of medical officers have been lying vacant for the last two years at Govt Sardar Begum Memorial Teaching Hospital Sialkot.
The one each post of additional medical superintendent, principal dental surgeon, senior dental surgeon, anesthetist, urologist, dermatologist, nursing superintendent, deputy nursing superintendent and nursing instructor had also been lying vacant at the teaching hospital since long.
The miserable situation is making the teaching hospital an "ailing hospital" due to which the indoor and out door patients have been suffering great ordeal in getting medical treatment besides badly affecting the managerial matters.
Principal Zafar Ali Chaudhary said that he had already brought the situation into the notice of the provincial health department's higher authorities and recommended early appointments on the vacant posts but to no avail.
He said that more than 30,000 OPD patients, about 6,000 emergency patients, 850 surgery patients and more than 2,000 indoor patients visit Govt Sardar Begum Memroial teaching Hospital every month for getting medical and health facilities. The local social, religious, health, education and political circles of Sialkot have expressed grave concern over the acute shortage of doctors and paramedical staff at the teaching hospital. They urged the Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif to take serious note of the miserable situation by ensuring early appointments on the posts.
ANTI-US RESOLUTION: Sialkot Municipal Corporation has unanimously passed an anti-US resolution against President Trump's Jerusalem move.
The Municipal Corporation strongly criticised Trump for recognising Jerusalem as Israel's capital. The Sialkot Municipal Corporation unanimously passed several condemnation resolutions. The members warned the US to refrain from the nasty move, which has mounted the global concerns.
They said that Trump's approach could extinguish his own efforts to broke Middle East peace while igniting the flames of conflict in a region already reeling from crises in Lebanon, Syria, Iraq, Yemen and Qatar. They said that the US president’s policies have become danger for the whole world.
CYBERCRIME WING PLANNED: The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has decided to establish FIA's Cybercrime Wing at its regional office here to entertain the cyber crime related cases here instead of forwarding such cases to FIA Lahore.
FIA Divisional Deputy Director Mufakhar Adeel said that the decision had been made in the larger interest of the local people, enabling them to lodge their cybercrime cases at FIA Regional Office in Gujranwala. The local people belonging to Sialkot, Narowal, Gujrat, Mandi Bahaud Din, Hafizabad and Gujranwala districts have to go to FIA Lahore offices for lodging their cyber crime cases. The complainants have to suffer great ordeal due to inordinate delay in registration of their cybercrime cases.
