Relations between nations are conducted on the basis of bilateralism. Representations, holding of meetings, exchange of delegations, etc are all determined on bilateral basis. ICC's future tours programme is also formulated on the basis of bilateralism. In our country, Sri Lanka have come and gone, and would soon be back again. The third ODI between Pakistan and Sri Lanka took place in a very secure and peaceful environment. And there is every reason to believe that the forthcoming Test series would also be managed in the same manner. In view of the above, I would like to suggest that if the Australian government does not allow its cricket team to fulfill its obligation to play Pakistan in Pakistan, and if the planned matches are arranged at neutral venues, the government of Pakistan, in the spirit of bilateralism, should respond in the same vein. For our return tour to Australia, we should also tell our cricket team not to visit Australia and instead play pre-arranged matches at neutral venues. -M. ASLAM KHAN, Karachi, via e-mail, February 3.
