LAHORE - Punjab CM Shahbaz Sharif has said that China is a great friend of Pakistan and Pak-China friendship is time tested. He expressed these views during a meeting with 7-member delegation of Chinese investors led by Mr. Yen Li, Chairman Tnegzhong Group of China on Saturday. Secretary Advisory Council Haroon Khawaja, Chairman KASB Group Nasir Ali Shah Bukhari, Secretary Commerce, Zafar-ud-Din Mehmood and S.M. Tanvir were also present on the occasion. He said that Pak-China friendship was as deep as sea and as lofty and higher as Himalaya and there was need that Pakistan and China convert their close friendly relations into economic and trade cooperation for promoting bilateral trade between both the countries. He said that a road map should be evolved for promoting mutual cooperation in various sectors and road map should be evolved in this regard as it was a need of the time. The Chief Minister lauded the role of China in the progress and prosperity of Pakistan. He said that Punjab was rich in natural resources and vast opportunities of cooperation are existed in various sectors including generating energy from coal, hydel power and livestock. He said that Punjab could benefit from the experiences of China for the improvement of various sectors as China has made a tremendous progress in various sectors by utilizing science and technology. He said that establishment of state-of-the-art Punjab China Industrial Estate alongside Motorway could also be considered, as setting up of this estate will help to further enhance the cooperation between Punjab and China in various sectors. He said that there was lot of scope for improvement in livestock sector and Punjab and China could promote cooperation in livestock sector, as substantial foreign exchange could be earned by exporting Halal meat to Iran and Middle East. The Chief Minister said that Punjab Investment Board has been made active and vibrant for the solution of problems of investors as well as providing facilities to them. He said that foreign investors should invest open heartedly in Punjab and government would provide them all facilities. He directed to constitute a committee comprising of Chairman Planning & Development and Secretary Industry & Trade to review the provision of facilities after a meeting with Chinese investors. Head of Chinese delegation Yen Li said that Tnegzhong Group of China would consider the investment and cooperation with Punjab in various sectors and negotiations would be held with the concerned quarters in this regard.
