LAHORE The 1986 National Champions Pakistan Air Force annexed the title of 4th All Pakistan Rana Sajjad Memorial Football Tournament when they kept their lone goal alive till full time to beat stubborn home team Sajjad Memorial Club 1-0 in the tense, absorbing final at College Ground, Faisalabad Road, Jaranwala last night. The lone goal of the match appeared in the 20th minute of second session with former international winger Muhammad Arshad Jan punished defensive blunder with close-range drive. Pervez-led PAF thus becoming fourth champion of the event that was launched in 2007 with Wapda lifting the trophy. Jaranwalas Raja FC pocketed the second edition in 2008 followed by Gujranwala Electric Power Company (GEPCO) who won the event in 2009. Chairman National Assembly Standing Committee for Education Chaudhry Abid Sher Ali, MNA graced the occasion as chief guest while Malik Amir Raza Awan, of UniLever Limited (energile brand) Faisalabad presided over the function. Abid Sher appreciated the organisational quality of Sajjad Clubs management in general and Tournament Secretary Rana Shahzad Ahmed in particular who ran the event in befitting manner and promised to construct Pavilion in the ground as well as soccer other equipments needed for smooth running of such events. Abid has urged the youth to participate in healthy outdoor activities for development and enhancement of their mental and physical capabilities. He underlined the need for promotion of health outdoor sports activities in the society to involve the youth into such constructive activities. Abid also praised coaching qualities of PAF coach Qazi Asif and the role of Media who gave tremendous coverage of event throughout six-day show. Shahid Rasheed supervised the final supported by Shahid Hussain, Abdul Jabbar, Nasir Habib on the line while Rana Naseer Ahmed was Match Commissioner.
