It is a desperate need of the hour for Pakistan to become more environmentally responsible and cleaner and greener country. One of the ways that one can do this is by introducing cycle rickshaws, as have been seen in Bangladesh opening of cricket world cup this year. Cycle rickshaws have been in use by China for many years. These cycle rickshaws will benefit Pakistan in many ways. First, they are clean and dont emit any fuel emission. Second, since they dont use fuel they are free to operate. Third, given the fact that there is huge unemployment in Pakistan, this can solve this problem affordably and give self-employment to millions of Pakistanis. Fifth, these cycles should be registered in post office and should be charged a minimum fee of Rs 1000 per year in taxation income for provincial governments. I would urge the leaders of the day and the concerned departments like commerce finance environment and transport to work together and promote this cycle rickshaw initiative. Z H EFFENDI, Karachi
