LAHORE: Adviser to Chief Minister Punjab on Health Kh Salman Rafiq has urged officials to take steps for eradication of dengue according to SOPs as breeding season of mosquitoes has started.

Chairing a meeting to review steps for eradication of dengue at Civil Secretariat on Friday, he said that dengue could not reach alarming proportions last year due to public cooperation and well organised anti-dengue campaign.

Additional Chief Secretary Punjab Syed Mubashar Raza, Parliamentary Secretary Health Kh Imran Nazir, Secretary Health Jawad Rafiq Malik, Secretary Information Momin Agha, secretaries of all concerned departments, Director General Health, Commissioner Lahore, DCO Lahore, police officers and officers of Punjab Information Technology Board attended the meeting while Commissioners of Rawalpindi, Multan and Faisalabad participated through video link.

The health secretary said that all departments were fully aware of SOPs and taking steps for controlling dengue. He urged all Divisional Commissioners and DCOs to start implementation on dengue regulations, ensure surveillance and availability of fogging machines, spray pumps, medicines.–Staff Reporter

 He asked officers of all concerned departments to submit report regarding preparations.

He said that 2013 and 2014 remained better regarding dengue. He said that Dengue Experts Advisory Group (DEAG) has imparted training to doctors and nurses in clinical management due to which patients of dengue shock syndrome were recovered.

Chairman Dengue Experts Advisory Group said that the procedure of admission of dengue patients has been changed and a new Performa has been sent to all concerned departments and hospitals. He said that new PGRs have been provided training and DEAG has arranged training of doctors on permanent basis.

Commissioners Rawalpindi, Faisalabad and Multan informed about the steps taken for eradication of dengue in their respective divisions through video link.
