Rawalpindi - Police during a crackdown arrested six kite and fireworks sellers from different localities of the city and recovered huge quantity of firecrackers, strings and kites.

Similarly, police during action against anti-social elements nabbed 12 outlaws and seized narcotics, illegal arms and ammunitions from their possession, informed police spokesman here on Friday.

According to him, a police team of the New Town Police Station conducted raid and arrested two sellers of firecrackers namely Shahid Abbas and Majid Latif and recovered five packs of crackers, two packets of coloured crackers and three pomegranate crackers from their possession. A case was registered against them.

Meanwhile, he said, in another action, police arrested four kite sellers from the area of Banni and recovered 318 strings and 1500 kites that were packed in three sacks.

He said that the detainees were identified as Zeeshan, Iqrar, Imran and Asif.

On the other hand, the spokesman said, police held some 12 outlaws from different areas of the district and recovered 1540 grams of charas, 5 liter alcohol, 3 bottles of liquor, 6 pistols of 30 bore with 29 bullets and 1 repeater of 12 bore from their possession. All the accused were locked up after lodging cases against them with police stations concerned, he informed.
