Islamabad - Capital police on Friday said they were thoroughly coordinating with the General Headquarters (GHQ) for making security arrangements in connection with the Pakistan Day parade to be held in Islamabad on March 23.

Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Mir Vais Niaz while addressing a news conference said that the capital police had decided to close some seminaries in Islamabad before March 23 for security reasons.

The government has already decided to shut down at least 41 seminaries ahead of Pakistan Day parade.

Police stations have been instructed to close religious seminaries in their respective jurisdictions.

The seminaries to be closed include 18 within the jurisdiction of police station I-9, 14 seminaries in limits of Aabpara Police Station, 6 in Shahzad Town and 3 in limits of Secretariat Police Station.

The SSP added that following the terrorist attack at Imambargah Qasar-e-Sakina Bint-e-Hussain on February 16, the city police had enhanced security of Imambargahs and mosques located in various parts of the city.

“Police teams are continuously conducting search operation in the city and police have also kept vigilance in Shakrial and adjacent areas,” he said. To a question regarding attack on a senior physician and head of cardiology ward of Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS), Dr Shahid Nawaz, he said that the attack on the cardiologist who succumbed to his injuries on Friday was conducted in highly professional way and police have requested secrete agencies for help to make headway in the investigation.

 He said that the Crime Investigation Agency (CIA) of Islamabad police had busted three gangs of dacoits and car snatchers besides recovering gold ornaments, motorbikes, car and weapons from their possession.

The police officer said that a special police team headed by Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) CIA Bashir Ahmed Noon, comprising ASIs Suleman Shah, Tipu Sultan, Ameer Sajjad, Saleem Raza nabbed 12 gangsters recovering gold ornaments, two Honda bikes, electronic equipment, 15 mobiles phones, daggers, a corolla car and spare parts of snatched vehicles from their possession.

He said that the nabbed persons identified as Malik Waqas , Arslan qammer,Muhammad Raees, Umier Ali, Zulfqar Ali, Waqas Shaker , Noman Mansoor, Shahad Zaman, Bilal Ahmed, Waqas , Muhammad Arshad and NazakatHussain. The accused Arshad and Nazakat Hussain were also involved in snatching a cab (M-6802) near Dhok Kala Khan after hiring it and attempting dacoity attempts on it near Islamabad club after changing its number plate, he said.

 The SSP said that they snatched Suzuki Cultus (RLD-2666) and mobile phone from Farukh Abbass resident of Rawal town Islamabad while attempted to snatch another car from Tauseqq Daniyal through firing. The Secretariat police have also registered a case against them for snatching cash and valuables from a person, he said.

 He said that the arrested people have confessed to commit dacoities in various areas of Hassan Abdal, Rawalpinid and Islamabad. Further investigation is underway from them and CIA police is hopeful for more recovery from them.
